Utah has no commercial drive-thru safari parks. Its best roadside wildlife experiences are on and around the Great Salt Lake: an island in the lake with one of the nation’s oldest public bison herds (whose famous fall roundup is this month), and a free refuge auto tour through one of the West’s great bird migration stopovers.
